Luis Guerrero
Research Assistant
Luis Guerrero (He/Him) is a student of International Trade at the Universidad de Guanajuato, Mexico. His specialization in export, import, trade balance, and supply chain management focuses on new sources of green energy and their potential impact on Mexico’s economic growth. He has explored how lithium production can transform the country’s energy landscape and create new, sustainable economic opportunities.
Luis broadened his academic horizons with an exchange program at Universidad Mayor in Chile in 2022, where he worked on the study of green hydrogen and its impact on energy sustainability. This international experience allowed him to compare energy strategies and analyze how various technologies can contribute to economic and environmental development in different contexts.
Currently, Luis has been awarded a prestigious Mitacs scholarship, which has enabled him to participate in a summer research project in collaboration with Dr. Sophia Carodenuto and Emma Bowick, both from the Environmental Governance Group. In this project, Luis focuses on gathering and analyzing information about supply chain due diligence legislation, particularly concerning human rights and environmental due diligence. This work provides him with a broader perspective on how regulations and practices in the supply chain can influence global sustainability and corporate responsibility.
The combination of his academic background in Mexico, his work in Chile, and his contributions through the Mitacs program highlights Luis Guerrero’s commitment to sustainable solutions for the environmental and economic challenges of the present and future.
