Noa Brown

Masters Student

Noa is an MSc student in Geography at the University of Victoria (UVic), focusing her research on the European Union’s Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR) and its impact on cocoa farmers in the Global South. She aims to integrate geospatial technology into a framework grounded in decolonial and economic justice perspectives. Noa began her BA in Geography at Concordia University in Montreal and completed it at UVic in 2023. She also holds a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) certificate from the Centre of Geographic Sciences in Nova Scotia, her home province. Her academic background has led to positions at the UVic Map Shop, where she led mapping training for students, and at the Yukon Conservation Society, where she served as lead GIS technician. She hopes to apply her technical and academic skills to a career in sustainable food policy and global environmental governance.
